Sider-Proof FF-PR

  DESCRIPTION

Sider-Proof FF-PR is a cement-based resurfacing roll-on liquid plaster applied over existing pool plaster and concrete surfaces. It will render a smooth and beautiful plaster finish.  Sider-Proof FF-PR has been designed and formulated for a roll-on application without the necessity of plastering experience with minimal prep-work.  Sider-Proof FF-PR is also designed to coat and waterproof water-falls, fountains & concrete ponds.. Sider-Proof FF-PR is packaged as a kit and has been formulated to cover small hairline cracks in the plaster or surface.

 MATERIALS:

SIDER-PROOF FF-PR is available as a 53-lb (24 kg) ready-to-use kit, comprised of:

     Part A - a 42 lb. (19 kg.) bag of powder

     Part B - a 1.3 gal. (5 liters) container of liquid

  SURFACE PREPARATION

Surfaces must be sound and free of all bond-inhibiting materials, including dirt, efflorescence, release agents, grease and oils, and other foreign particles. Remove paint, loose or damaged materials by water blasting, sandblasting or mechanical wire brushing. Damages and indentions should be repaired and leveled with Sider-Repair.  On existing smooth surfaces, an acid wash/acid-etch  on the existing surface is recommended followed by the application of a neutralizing treatment (example, TSP), to expose the aggregate and provide a proper mechanical bond.  Apply a layer of tape to all jets, returns, drains and tiles to protect from the coating. Ensure that the substrate has been well dampened and allowed to slightly dry; to be humid but not wet to the touch.  All high stress areas and existing cracks may require reinforcing polyester embedded in the first coat.

Note:  Prior to draining/emptying your swimming pool, please inquire regarding certain local conditions (i.e., high water tables/elevated levels of ground water) that may create permanent damage (i.e., pushing the pool out of the ground/pop-out) to your pool if left empty.  Sider-Oxydro, Inc. will not be held responsible for any damages caused by such occurrence and/or any related occurrences.

  MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

ENSURE THAT THE MATERIAL IS STORED AWAY FROM DIRECT SUNLIGHT.  IF WARM MATERIAL IS MIXED, IT WILL SET RAPIDLY.

Shake well and pour the Sider-Proof FF-PR Liquid (Part B) into a clean bucket and then add ½ bag of Sider-Proof FF-PR Powder (Part A).  Mix thoroughly with a drill and mixing paddle for 10 to 20 seconds. Then add the rest of the powder and mix for at least 5 minutes to yield a good plasticity and achieve a homogeneous mix. Always pour the liquid component in first and then add powder while mixing for optimal results.

Do not add any products in the mix, but you may add ½ to 1 cup of clean potable water to achieve a desired workability.  If adding water to the mix, ensure the water is cool and not directly from the hose laid in the sun. Do not water-down the material too much as it will prevent the application of a nice thick coat. If the material becomes too thick to apply during the application process, you may add a small amount of water in the mix and remix the material to achieve the desired consistency.  Do not use partially set or frozen material in the mix.

  INSTALLATION

IT IS RECOMMENDED TO APPLY THE MATERIAL EARLY MORNING DURING COOLER TEMPERATURES, AS A HOT CONCRETE MAY FORCE THE MATERIAL TO SET QUICKLY

Apply Sider-Proof FF-PR on a masonry/plaster substrate in two coats. The thickness of the applied material in two coats is approximately 1/8”. Apply the first coat with a paint roller, and roll smoothly. Dip the roller directly into the mixing pail; do not use a roller pan. Then immediately smooth the coating with a trowel.  Do not roll over applied material that has already started to set, as it will

Allow the first coat to dry to the touch prior to the application of the second coat but no more than 24 to 48 hours.  Also, allow for a slight rough finish on the first coat to ensure an appropriate mechanical bond of the second coat.   Apply the second coat with a paint roller, and roll smoothly.  Then immediately smooth the coating with a trowel.  Do not roll over applied material that has already started to set, as it will damage it.  Allow the coat to start to set, then with a large humid sponge (foam sponge with no holes) lightly float the coating to achieve a smooth and even finish to render your final appearance.  Sider-Proof FF-PR should be lightly sanded with a fine grit sanding sponge to achieve a smooth surface.  Allow minimum 24 and maximum 48 hours of drying time depending on surrounding conditions (temperature, humidity) prior to sanding.

Start-up procedures:  Allow Sider-Proof FF-PR to fully dry (depending on ambient temperatures) prior to filling the pool with clean water.  Ensure that all signs of dampness in Sider-Proof FF-PR have dried (coating should be uniform in color).  At the start of the filling process, the use of a sequestering agent is recommended.  Once the pool is filled, gradually adjust the pH and alkalinity according to the chemical's manufacturer’s specifications. After three to five days of constant water circulation, add the recommended amount of water treatment chemicals. Do not brush the coating for the first 2 to 4 weeks to allow proper curing.

Sider-Proof  FF-PR is manufactured with natural products.  Final texture and color of installed material may vary due its composition and variations in application tools and techniques, weather and lighting conditions, and other factors beyond the control of the manufacturer. Sider-Oxydro, Inc. assumes no liability for variations caused by conditions beyond its control  Due to the natural ingredients which make-up Sider-FF-PR or the nature of the substrate, the development of efflorescence may naturally occur and appear on the surface of Sider-FF-PR. .

  LIMITATIONS:

Apply when ambient and shell/surface temperatures are above 41° F (5° C) during application and drying period. Do not apply to overheated, excessively dry or frozen substrate, nor during periods of high winds. Mist as necessary to prevent rapid drying of Sider-Proof FF-PR in high temperature applications. Due to the natural ingredients which make-up Sider-Proof FF-PR or the nature of the substrate, the development of efflorescence may naturally occur and appear on the surface of Sider-Proof FF-PR.

*The ‘No-Brushing’ refers to the practice of brushing the walls of a pool plastered with standard cement-based plaster during start-up procedures; which is no longer necessary with the application of Sider-Proof FF-PR.

*The ‘No Check-Cracking’ refers to the development of cracking which could occur in a pool plastered with standard cement-based plaster if the plaster remains out of water for a certain time. Sider-Proof FF-PR will not develop Check-Cracking if it remains out of water; however, it does not refer to possibility of the development of cracking in Sider-Proof FF-PR resulting from such causes as, but not limited to, structural movement, application during extreme weather conditions (high winds, extreme high heat) – please refer to warranty for more details.
